The rise of a once third class city to a first class city, with its fast growing economy and fame, one may fancy how a leadership of one simple person has brought glory to Naga City; his simple ways,honesty, dedication and integrity, his aim to uphold people's rights and his innovative and new ideas which were summed up into one: Transformation not only the city’s outlook, and revenues but the constituent’s attitudes in sharing the problems and its solutions that finally made up a progressive city known not only country-wide but received recognitions in some parts of the world thru a man named once as “Ang Mayor na Kuyom ang Palad”; the Mayor Jesse M. Robredo.
It is imperative therefore that we give due recognition to this man by way of this entry submitted, and for other officials who may have read this will follow suit.
From a standpoint of a common “tao’s” own understanding and perspective, this phrase “Kuyom na Palad” indicates not as a mere branding or giving an alias to a particular person usually described as “kuripot” but this gives a wider meaning especially linking this to a highest position in local governance: THE MAYOR.
“Kuyom na Palad” best explains a special trait which differs totally with the word “kuripot” in the sense that in his person the mayor simply has a better taste of discretion when it comes to financial matters, disbursements and dole-outs, prioritizing them according to needs and given the highest position in the locality who has the prerogative powers to scrutinize, investigate and lay the final decisions under his governance.Thus, given this title does not demean a person but rather gives special credit to him that describes him distinctively different from other politicians who may have the attitude of being overtly generous especially in money matters.
Thus, we are proud to say that we have the only Mayor who may have this trait, “KUYOM NA PALAD”.
